Now, it's been almost a month since I've been able to update my blog and I know that's been your biggest complaint. But a lot of things have transpired in that month:
You're looking at a new design for our website, which still needs to be implemented throughout the site. The menus are hardcore CSS and work well on every browser/platform except IE on the Mac, which was EOL'ed over a year ago anyway (so upgrade if you're one of the 7 people still using it!). The whole site is CSS as well. Instead of Natalia and I having our separate sections with separate menus, we've integrated everything together. The Blue Sky blog was added to keep everyong updated on our new group101sf film project.
This and several other sites under my control, have been moved to a new server. Our old buddy Chris decided he doesn't want to host any more (and never really had the time for tech support anyway when something happened) so the "Severdia Webhosting Service" was born. Migrating over to that box has been hell to deal with, consuming tons of time, but is nearly complete.
It would have been a faster transition had I not had soooo much work on my plate. I've been doing lots of Lowe's work over at Nimblefish, a bunch of e-learning design for Ingersoll-Rand, and a few campaigns for Chestnut Hill with my new partner, Tom Kavanaugh. Tom and I did some work for Haggin Marketing that they just loved and would like to work with us more, which is funny because I've responded to their job ads on craigslist 4 times over the last year or two and they won't even invite me in for an interview---and now they LOVE our stuff and want it to set the tone for the rest of the brand???? Just goes to show ya-- companies actually want to pay more money for something they could have gotten for half the price if they had any foresight. In the end, it's our gain so I'm not complaining, but I love saying "I told you so . . ." :)
On the theatre front, I was recently cast in the RVP production of "The Foreigner". (There's actually an Off-Broadway revival premiering next month starring Matthew Broderick) The premiere is November 12th and I expect to see all my family and friends there to see it, especially the ones who didn't make it to see me in "Room Service" at the same theatre back in May (for which I received rave reviews). No, I don't play the title role, but I play a guy named Ellard who is a bit retarded (no type-casting involved, of course). My old acting teacher Jim Dunn will be playing the grumpy old Owen (a bit of typecasting involved there) and the others in the 6-person ensemble seem to be very sharp. We have our first read-through next Saturday and we'll get to know each other a little more at that time. The director is none other than the legendary Ken Rowland. Ken really does everything in the world, from acting to set design and it's a real treat to work with him. Natalia worked with him on the set of current play at RVP "The Importance of Being Earnest" and will also work on set design for this play. If you only see one play this year, make it this one. You won't regret it.
