Thanksgiving tidbits

The last day before the day of thanks has arrived. Time for everyone to go to that designated relative's house to pig out on turkey and yams just to show how thankful we are . . . for something. Do you ever get the feeling that it has kind of lost its meaning?

We could all sit and stare at the sun until our eyes burst into flames or maybe just move to European nirvana where they abhor most American holidays.

I guess it's a sign of the times when Segways are doing hit-and-runs or police are now on rollerblades. Or is it just too much Oprah slowly killing us all? Or just too many green onions? Or is the KKK finally getting what it deserves? Am I rambling?

Why?

Bush vs. BushGeez...what a fucked up week. I've neglected everything and everyone around me, including myself and this blog. I think about why this site matters and I found one answer here and at the other personal websites I visit on a fairly regular basis. I ponder the tidbits I've read that have made me laugh out loud or say "hmmmm" to myself. I wonder if they've affected my life in some larger fashion when I compound all the little tidbits together.

Damn, that sounds like a friggin' Marin hot-tubber gushing with New Age crap. Or I could just be disguising my inner desire to post like crazy at http://www.fuckthatjob.com/ or at http://www.fthisjob.com/. Or create a new one called http://www.myfuckingjobblog.com/. Or maybe I should get ready to send my last email.

On the brighter side of life, my wife and I are going to buy a new car (or fairly new). My wife loves the VW Golf since she already has one in Slovakia so we gotta have one in the US.

Jon Stewart hosts Bush vs. Bush debate

Bush vs. BushOne of the funniest shows on television is the Daily Show with John Stewart on Comedy Central. It's a hip fake news show which parodies current events and has interviews with actors, politicians, and others. There is a whole team of "correspondents" who create the news stories.

Recently, they created a very telling debate where George W. Bush debates against . . . . George W. Bush. Check it out.

Now, if only I can convince Natalia to go see the show live when we go to New York over the holidays. . . :) She doesn't really understand American humor and they have a different kind of political humor in Slovakia.

Euro screws dollar

Banned Russian AdI didn't think it was possible to ban anything in Russia for poor taste, but lo and behold it happened.

Apparently, the Euro and dollar need to take it "to the next level" in these ads which show the symbols apparently having sex. The finance magazine Izvestia realized after they had already printed and posted posters all around Moscow. It seems the publisher thought they were just "dancing." Hmm...

Letterman likes me

David Letterman likes meYep, David Letterman likes me so much to make me the butt of a joke. He held up this picture and made some kind of joke about David Copperfield being a fairy. And if you believe all that, I've got a bridge to sell you for real cheap.

Actually, tonight's full lunar eclipse is far more interesting and believable. Unfortunately, the weather on the Pacific side was overcast and rainy so we missed the whole thing.

But if you're a Star Trek Voyager buff, you know that the Voyager ship was named after the Voyager Insterstaller Mission. The VIM spacecraft has just reached the boundaries of our solar system after a 26 year trip. That means we're just starting to get a taste of what's beyond our knowledge and imagination: dark matter. If you don't know what that is, you'll be hearing more and more about it and we find out there's more of it than anything else in the universe.
